(1/17/13) North Texas sophomore Tony Mitchell eclipsed the all-time North Texas shot-block record with four blocks against Florida International, which raised his career total to 120. The school's all-time career record was 119, held by Jeremy Simpson.
Tony Mitchell Featured On ESPN's Sportsnation
(12/8/12) North Texas sophomore Tony Mitchell added to his highlight reel with a tomahawk dunk that was featured on ESPN's Sportsnation broadcast on December 10. Tony Mitchell Honored As Wooden Award Top 50 Player
(11/8/12) North Texas sophomore Tony Mitchell is among the Preseason Top 50 players named by the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Selected by a poll of national college basketball media members, the list is of the early front-runners for college basketball’s most prestigious honor – the John R. Wooden Award. The Wooden All-American Team, consisting of the nation’s top 10 players, will be announced the week of the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament.
ESPN Names Tony Mitchell Preseason All-American
(11/8/12) ESPN named North Texas sophomore forward Tony Mitchell to its Preseason All-American teams. Mitchell, who was one of just two freshmen to average a double-double last season, was selected to ESPN's preseason second team.

Sun Belt Tabs Tony Mitchell Preseason Player Of The Year
(10/24/12) Sun-Belt Conference coaches voted the Mean Green's Tony Mitchell the league's preseason Player Of The Year, and choose North Texas as the favorite to win the Sun Belt's West Division.A year ago in league play, Mitchell led the Sun Belt in scoring (15.9 PPG), rebounding (11.8 RPG), 3-point percentage (47.1) and blocks (3.1 BPG), and was second in field goal percentage (58.1).
CBS Sports Names NT's Tony Mitchell Preseason All-American
(10/8/12) North Texas sophomore forward Tony Mitchell has been named a preseason All-American by CBS Sports. CBS joins Basketball Times Magazine, Athlon Sports, Lindy's Sports and the ESPN Blue Ribbon Report in bestowing such honors on Mitchell, who averaged a double-double last year in his freshman season.
